Finished A's vodka ad! Vypadnout means “fuck off”.
Went to the Tucson Museum of Contemporary Arts yesterday with all the kids. Haha I was sooo angry when they touched the art, but I was the only one. It was some pretty interesting stuff; my favorites were the collages and the (obvious) 90s blueprints. Near the end of the tour we got to sketch our favorite piece, so I sketched the lady in the turtleneck surrounded by flowers, then proceeded to sketch the kids messing around. :) I’m really getting to like this internship.
Recently started my summer internship in Tucson at Our Family Services’ prevention program for children and teens- La Escuelita. The kids love me so far! :D I’m not good with kids normally, so this is pretty great news.
Anyway, they’re doing the summer reading program, so I drew them a book full of stories on the whiteboard! (The parts in Spanish is because they are all bilingual!)
UGH this Figure Drawing class is sucking my energy away
This is the most artsy thing I’ve done in the past few weeks due to my stupid drawing class. It’s so technical, my teacher is classist, and I am literally dying.
But last Saturday I participated in Tucson’s Denim Day Live Art event on 4th Avenue. I painted a pair of jeans against sexual assault! It was a lot of fun. :) My bf took these pix; which makes this even more awkward since the model wanted me to paint his crotch. xD
I painted white hands (of Saruman) all over, with NO on the butt, I WILL EAT YOU ALIVE on the crotch, I WILL BREAK YOUR BONES and YOU SAID YOU LOVED ME and DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME on the others. I also have a trail of blood from the toothful mouth at the crotch that makes a blood-red flower. Very fun! :D Too short of time, tho. :P
End of the semester is coming up, so I hope I’ll have more time to get on here. Sorry, guys. :< I’ll take pix of my fave 10 sketches I did for Figure Drawing when I finish, as well as pix of all my projects.
*TRIGGER WARNING: MENTION OF RAPE/SEXUAL ASSAULT*
MY PRINTS HAVE COME
I absolutely LOVE this book set! I just got it back today, and it’s just as beautiful as when I turned it in. :3
This is a set of 10 8-page books printed with black ink on linoleum called Kore, an entirely visual story based on an essay I wrote when I was in my Women and Gender in Antiquity class last semester. It’s called Persephone and the Pomegranate: The Use of Rape as a Forceful Transition from Maidenhood to Wifehood. It’s basically the myth of Persephone but with an historically accurate Grecian lens (focused specifically on the pov of Persephone rather than her mother). The paper is 18’x12’ and a mix of newsprint and bristol vellum. The box is actually a tampon box (lol) and papered with red paper I had left over from my first illustration class at the UA. The pomegranate from the front cover is stamped on the front of the box.
Message me if you’re curious about the story! :D
Sorry for not posting anything; I didn’t do anything over spring break. :/ BUT I’ll be getting my prints in a couple hours, so I’ll be uploading pix as son as I get them!
Figures my fan art gets the most notes. xD
So I already finished that bottom one, but here are the official sketches scanned! I’m excited to finish this, since it’s due next week. :O
